Recently, we came across the blog of a young woman who wrote about her experience with a locksmith in New York City. The situation occurred several years ago, but could happen at anytime to anyone who encounters an unscrupulous locksmith while in a desperate situation, such as being locked out of their home or car late at night.
Caroline, the author of the blog “No Great Illusion,” describes how she found herself locked out of her Brooklyn apartment late one night due to a defective lock on her front door. As most people would do, she called an emergency locksmith service.
After spending about 20 minutes replacing her broken lock, Caroline was presented with a bill that was much higher than she ever could have anticipated. Not having enough cash on her, and with the locksmith claiming that his credit card machine wasn’t working, the locksmith called the police when she couldn’t pay. The officer that showed up told her to pay the man, or she would be under arrest.
Caroline was forced to walk several blocks to the nearest ATM in the middle of the night, while the locksmith followed her in his unmarked car, to get cash out to pay him, even though she knew she was being taken advantage of. The police officer, in this instance, unfortunately did little to try to understand her situation, and she was left feeling scared, vulnerable, and scammed.
We’ve been in the locksmith industry for a long time and have heard our share of horror stories similar to this: locksmiths who overcharge for the work they do, locksmiths who do more work than is necessary so they can charge more, or locksmiths who make their customers feel less safe than they did before they called the locksmith.
We know there are “bad apples” out there in the locksmith industry (as there are in any industry), so we do our best to go above and beyond when serving our Fallbrook locksmith customers. We give our customers an estimate before we begin work, so they aren’t surprised by the bill they receive when the job is completed. We also use the method that will be the most cost-effective for our customers. Sometimes that means repairing a lock, even though replacing it might be more profitable for our Fallbrook locksmith company.
We never take advantage of our customers, particularly those in emergency situations who are already feeling vulnerable. We offer fair and honest pricing, no matter the circumstances, and we treat people professionally and with respect. We are a locksmith company that is local to Fallbrook, so the people that call us for locksmith services are our neighbors—and we treat them as such!
Here are some of the words used to describe our Fallbrook locksmiths by a few of our past customers: “friendly,” “professional,” “willing to go the extra mile,” “efficient,” “reliable,” “trustworthy,” “skilled,” “courteous,” and “neighborly.” Doesn’t that sound like the type of locksmith you want?
